Kate Brown: In the Pocket of Planned Parenthood

Sharolyn Smith

Political Director

Governor Kate Brown assumed office last year after John Kitzhaber resigned during an influence-peddling scandal. Brown is no stranger to Oregon politics, having spent the last 25 years in public office. She is now on the ballot to be elected to fill out the remaining two years of Kitzhaber’s term.

Unfortunately, Kate Brown is completely bought and paid for by Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby. She advocates for keeping abortion legal until the moment of birth. As a legislator, she even sponsored a bill that would have shut down pregnancy resource centers had it passed.

This summer, Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood’s national president, wrote a fundraising email for Kate Brown praising her as a champion for abortion rights. Richards called her “one of the most effective and progressive leaders this nation has ever seen.”

The good news is that there is an alternative to pro-abortion Kate Brown! Oregon Right to Life’s Political Action Committee recommends Bud Pierce for governor. If he were elected, Pierce would sign pro-life legislation, including the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

This race is extremely important. The office of governor is vital to the pro-life cause in Oregon. The governor has a huge influence over the state budget. He/she also has power to make political appointments that affect all areas of life, including the lives of the unborn.

What’s at stake in this election is quite clear. If Kate Brown stays in the governor’s office, it will be virtually impossible for pro-life legislation to become law. We need Bud Pierce to be Oregon’s next governor.
