Every year, our nation gives thanks to God for all of our abundant blessings: the family members we love, the beautiful communities we live in, and yes, the food we eat!
We also take the time to express our deep gratitude for the fundamental rights that are recognized and protected in our country: especially, the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Yet, today and always, I’m reminded of the painful reality that in many states, including Oregon, these most basic rights are not extended to the innocent and vulnerable human beings in the womb. Instead, their right to life is ignored, and thousands are made victims of the violence of abortion every single day.
But there is reason for hope.
In 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the badly-decided Roe v. Wade ruling that forced states to allow abortion and suppressed the rights of voters to establish protections for the unborn.
In this year’s General Election, three states voted against pro-abortion ballot initiatives and Americans resoundingly rejected Kamala Harris’ radical pro-abortion agenda.
And here in Oregon, voters elected strong pro-life leaders to head the Republican House and Senate minorities… even though our movement continues to face tough headwinds in the state and we didn’t see all the victories we would have liked.
One thing you probably already know about Oregon Right to Life is that we will never stop advocating for the unborn and medically vulnerable adults. We’ve been around since before Roe, and we are fully committed to building a culture of life here in Oregon through community outreach, political action, and more.
All along the way, our work has been possible because of pro-life Oregonians like you. You are an integral part of this movement. And this Thanksgiving, I am so grateful for you, your support, and your dauntless commitment to LIFE.
From everyone here at Oregon Right to Life…
Happy Thanksgiving!!
