The international pro-life movement has a new symbol: a highly symbolic flag depicting two hands holding two baby feet.
The Pro-Life Flag Project was a grassroots effort involving over 70 partners and organizations from around the world. These included Students for Life of America, March for Life, Secular Pro-Life, Focus on the Family and New Wave Feminists, as well as nine international groups.
Thousands of pro-life advocates entered their designs, with six emerging as finalists. In July, internet users voted for their favorite. The winner uses a white background, symbolizing non-violence in the womb, as well as the innocence of the unborn child (the baby feet). The pink hands represent the pregnant mother, while the white heart in between the feet symbolizes the pro-life movement’s love for both mother and child. The pink and blue colors stand for not only baby boys and girls, but the two lives at stake in every pregnancy.
