(Oregon Right to Life) — A unique provision in Oregon law has helped make Oregon Right to Life PAC the “king-maker” it is today. By taking advantage of this provision before December 31st, pro-life advocates can help ORTL PAC meet our yearly budget and continue our crucial work to elect pro-life leaders.
As most pro-life Oregonians likely know, abortion is legal in Oregon up to the moment of birth for any reason. And when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, Oregon joined other pro-abortion states in doubling down on its pro-abortion agenda. Today, more than half of all Oregon abortions are paid for with taxpayer dollars.
But every year, when they act before the December 31st deadline, pro-life advocates in Oregon have a unique opportunity to push back against the state’s abortion radicalism by using Oregon’s political tax credit.
What is Oregon’s Political Tax Credit?
The credit allows Oregon taxpayers to give to a candidate, political party, or political action committee and receive every penny back on their tax return when they donate before December 31st. Click to learn more and claim your political tax credit.
Why Use My Political Tax Credit to Support ORTL PAC?
- ORTL PAC is the only organization in the state exclusively dedicated to electing pro-life leadership who will be a voice for the voiceless in the legislature.
- Our full-time staff and year-round grassroots program is actively engaged in surveying Oregonians on pro-life issues, educating voters, promoting pro-life candidates, turning out the pro-life vote, getting pro-life lawmakers elected, and holding our legislature accountable.
- Unlike big abortion corporations like Planned Parenthood, Oregon Right to Life PAC receives no government funding, instead relying on the generosity and commitment of pro-life advocates dedicated to building a culture of life right here in Oregon.
- 75% of the funding ORTL PAC receives comes from our year-end Oregon tax credit contributions – and the best part is that this support comes at no cost at all from pro-life advocates, since they’ll receive the money back when they file their taxes.
For ORTL PAC, the Oregon political tax credit is crucial to getting pro-life representatives elected and transforming Oregon into a state that values every human life – from conception to natural death. Click here to help out and claim your tax credit before the December 31st deadline.
How Will ORTL PAC Use My Tax Credit Dollars?
Candidate Identification
Oregon Right to Life PAC strives to identify pro-life candidates at all levels of government who will be leaders on the issue and build campaigns that can win. Interested candidates are put through a vetting process and, once endorsed, provided with a variety of resources, training, and action opportunities that extend past their candidacy and into their elected term.
Pro-Life Voter Guide
One of ORTL PAC’s most well-known and sought-after resources is the Oregon Right to Life PAC voter guide. The pro-life voter guide is sent to nearly 250,000 pro-life households in Oregon. It highlights our endorsed candidates who will best represent their values in school board, primary and general elections.
Voter Outreach
Oregon Right to Life launched a year-round door-to-door voter outreach initiative in 2021. By participating in this grassroots effort, we’ve seen a 10 percent increase in voter turnout in target districts. In competitive races, this effort can determine the election outcome. Contribute to this vital work.
What Did ORTL PAC Accomplish in 2024?
This year, Oregon Right to Life PAC team members gave presentations to over 200 people to encourage involvement and train on effective pro-life messaging. Our team also knocked on 21,172 doors, called 19,613 phones, and made connections with 8,804 voters in Marion County and the rural Lane County areas.
Through the efforts of team members and dedicated volunteers, the pro-life message reached nearly 1.2 million people statewide during the primary and general elections.
In the Primary and General Elections, ORTL PAC endorsed 69 candidates in 66 races, winning 42. In the Primary, we launched a highly successful pro-life campaign to unseat the only pro-abortion Republican in the Oregon Legislature, Rep. Charlie Conrad, and replace him with strong pro-life Darin Harbick. Pro-life Oregonians defeated Conrad in the 2024 primary with a historic 82–17 margin.
“One of the things that this shows is that Oregon Right to Life is the Republican Party,” Conrad told the Oregon Capital Chronicle after his defeat. “They’re the gatekeeper.”
Flipping a pro-abortion seat to a pro-life one was a huge victory. But many pro-life candidates in Oregon faced strong headwinds this year – and pro-life lawmakers are once again in the superminority.
The upside is that Oregon Right to Life PAC is accustomed to being the underdog. We understand how to effectively utilize its resources and collaborate with allies. Today, 100% of Republicans elected to serve in the state legislature in 2025 are supported by Oregon Right to Life PAC, giving pro-life Oregonians a unified voice among the legislative minority.
As pro-life advocates in a deeply pro-choice state, ORTL PAC is playing the long game – we won’t be discouraged by any setbacks. Give $50 as a single filer or $100 if filing jointly and get every cent back when you file your taxes.
What Will ORTL PAC Do in 2025?
As we move past the General Election and into 2025, ORTL PAC is ready to hit the ground running.
For the first two quarters, our primary focus in 2025 will be school board races, where funding can go a very long way and have a direct impact on your child’s education.
We will exert our pro-life influence in school board races, supporting pro-life candidates who will advocate for transparency in education, defend parental rights, and keep school-based health centers accountable.
School board races historically see very low turnout, making it vital to raise funding and rally pro-life voters to get involved. We need your help to defeat pro-choice candidates who want to promote abortion and keep parents out of their children’s health care. Support ORTL PAC to keep radical pro-abortion ideology out of your child’s classroom.
How Much Does All This Cost?
Staying competitive in Oregon’s legislature isn’t easy or inexpensive.
ORTL PAC spent $134,604.97 helping campaigns cross the finish line in 2024, and connected pro-life candidates to their pro-life constituents using our specific and unique dataset in value of $24,021.35.
That’s what makes Oregon’s political tax credit so important.
It’s an opportunity for pro-life Oregonians to keep this pro-life “political machine” running at no cost to themselves, ensuring that the pro-life message is proclaimed, defended, and advanced statewide in every election. Claim your tax credit before December 31st.
