Over 1,300 Pro-Life Advocates Urge CEOs of Walmart, Costco Not to Sell Abortion Pills

(Oregon Right to Life) — More than 1,300 pro-life advocates have signed an Oregon Right to Life (ORTL) petition online urging the CEOs of popular supermarket chains not to sell the abortion pill mifepristone.

In July, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander wrote to the CEOs of Albertsons, Costco, Walmart, Kroger, and the medical supply company McKesson, pressuring them to sell the abortion pill in their pharmacies. In response, hundreds of investors, dozens of financial managers, and 6,000 Costco members applied counter-pressure, encouraging the companies not to dispense the pills.

As of this writing, none of the corporate CEOs have announced plans to sell the abortion pill in their pharmacies, despite the efforts of the New York City Comptroller.

Last month, Oregon Right to Life launched its own petition urging the companies to continue to keep mifepristone off their pharmacy shelves.

ORTL asked for 1,000 signatures from pro-life Oregonians.

In response, 1,300 pro-life advocates – mostly from Oregon but some from other states including Washington, Idaho, and California – have signed the petition online.

ORTL reached out last week to the CEOs of Albertsons, Costco, Walmart, and Kroger to share the results of the petition.

We have also received hundreds of signatures from pro-life advocates who stopped by our pro-life fair booth at the Oregon State Fair.

Oregon Right to Life is deeply grateful for the involvement of the pro-life advocates who have stepped up to make their voices heard on behalf of the most vulnerable.
