(Oregon Right to Life) — Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate in the 2024 election. If they win in November, Harris and Walz would likely lead the most pro-abortion administration in U.S. history, endangering many thousands of unborn lives nationwide.

Harris made the announcement on Tuesday after considerable anticipation. Walz quickly accepted the nomination, calling it an “honor.”

“It is the honor of a lifetime to join [Kamala Harris] in this campaign,” Walz wrote on X. “I’m all in.”

Pro-life advocates across the country, including Live Action founder and president Lila Rose and Students for Life of America president Kristan Hawkins, have recognized that a President Harris and Vice President Walz would present a major threat to unborn lives in the U.S.

As governor of Minnesota, Walz signed a radical piece of legislation last year to guarantee a “right” to abortion throughout all stages of pregnancy for any reason.

The “Protect Reproductive Options” (PRO) Act states that anyone “who becomes pregnant has a fundamental right to continue the pregnancy and give birth, or obtain an abortion, and to make autonomous decisions about how to exercise this fundamental right.”

Like Harris, Walz has a lengthy pro-abortion political record, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) pointed out in an August 6 press release. While representing Minnesota’s first congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007-2019, Walz’s voting record earned him a 0% pro-life score from NRLC. He also received the backing of pro-abortion groups, including the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, during his run for governor.

During the gubernatorial race in 2018, Walz remarked that his “record is so pro-choice Nancy Pelosi asked me if I should tone it down,” adding, “I stand with Planned Parenthood.”

As governor, Walz also approved legislation to cut back regulations on abortion facilities and repealed a 2005 grant program that allocated funding to pro-life pregnancy resource centers.

“If elected, a Harris-Walz Administration would push for the most extreme abortion agenda policies of any administration,” NRLC president Carol Tobias said in the Tuesday press release. “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are both radically pro-abortion and see the lives of precious unborn babies as disposable inconveniences.”

“Tim Walz has made his support of unlimited abortion a foundation of his administration,” Tobias added. “Both Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have yet to hear of an abortion they would oppose.”

In a statement, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser pointed out that Gov. Walz has approved “legislation grossly expanding taxpayer-funded abortion, stripping away the state’s informed consent protections, and significantly weakening protections for babies born alive.”

“With Harris and Walz as standard-bearers, the Democratic Party has become the ‘Shout Your Abortion’ party, with no limits for any reason even in the seventh, eighth or ninth month,” Dannenfelser continued. “In contrast to President Trump, JD Vance and the GOP, who support the right of the people to set limits on abortion and provide real options for mothers in need, Democrats have made it clear nothing – not the checks and balances built into our government, not the humanity of unborn children and not the true needs of women – will stop them from imposing all-trimester abortion nationwide.”

“The pro-life movement must fully engage to defeat the Harris-Walz extreme abortion agenda in November,” she said.

Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. president Donald Trump’s team also responded to Harris’ VP pick on Tuesday, calling the Democratic ticket a “nightmare.”

“[J]ust like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital. She said the Harris-Walz vision for the country is “every American’s nightmare.”
