Trumpeting the Presidential Pro-Life Accomplishments

Last January, President Donald Trump became the first-ever American president to attend the March for Life, the annual pro-life demonstration in Washington, D.C. that attracts hundreds of thousands. It was major validation for the movement, given mainstream media’s uniform dismissal of the massive event.

Trump’s presence at a single pro-life rally is far from his only pro-life action. Since his election in 2016, he has steadily built a significant pro-life resume. Importantly, should he win re-election as ORTL PAC is endorsing, he has promised to continue protecting unborn humans through multiple avenues.

Given Joe Biden’s well-documented support both for and from the abortion industry, it is critical to vote pro-life this November. A quick overview of Trump’s record proves him to be a far better option for voters with pro-life values:

  • Within Trump’s first week in the Oval Office, he reinstated the Mexico City Policy, a ban on the tax-funding of organizations that promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations.
  • Shortly thereafter, the president signed an executive order stating that faith-based employers and organizations cannot be forced to violate their religious beliefs in order to comply with conscience-crushing laws like the Affordable Care Act.
  • In 2019, Trump encouraged Congress to ban late-term abortions and pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. He also promised to veto any repeal of the Hyde Amendment (which bans federal funding of abortion except through Title X; see point after next).
  • Also in 2019, Trump beefed up enforcement of federal conscience rights and religious freedom laws protecting medical providers from being forced to participate in abortions.
  • The 45th president instituted new rules for the Title X family planning program. The rules prevent funds from going to abortion clinics, reallocating the funds to community health centers. The new rules also and allow states to exclude abortion businesses from their Medicaid programs.
  • Besides appointing two constitutionalist judges to the Supreme Court who are not in lockstep with pro-choice activists and donors, Trump has also filled lower courts with more than 200 similar-minded federal judges.
  • A key promise for Trump’s reelection campaign has been the announcement of 20 additional names for a possible Supreme Court vacancy. Each appears to be staunchly pro-life.

The President has steadily built a significant pro-life resume.

“Though some pro-life voters were unsure what to make of Trump upon his 2016 win, he has proven to be a reliable source of pro-life movement and policies,” says Lois Anderson, ORTL executive director. “All signs point to the president further expanding his legacy of protecting unborn humans should he win again.”
