Considering the crushing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Congress set aside $659 billion in the Paycheck Protection Program to save small businesses. There was nationwide outcry as it was discovered that corporations received forgivable loans undeservedly.
“When the Trump administration revealed the recipients of the SBA loans, there was disturbing information about Planned Parenthood affiliates in Oregon,” says Lois Anderson. “Two Planned Parenthood affiliates, those of the Columbia-Willamette and Eugene, received a combined $3-6 million dollars. We call on them to return the funds.”
At the end of May, the Small Business Administration sent letters to every Planned Parenthood affiliate who received PPP loans insisting they return the funds. So far, Planned Parenthood has refused.
“Planned Parenthood accrued $1.638 billion in revenue in the 2018-2019 fiscal year,” continued Lois Anderson. “Taxpayers footed the bill for $616.8 million of that amount. The PPP program was intended to save small businesses, not further line the pockets of the nation’s largest and wealthiest provider of abortion.”
Planned Parenthood performed 345,672 abortions during the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
