Announcing … Together We Advocate 2018

Sharolyn Smith

Political Director

For many years, Oregon Right to Life has organized an annual conference. Under the skillful leadership and vision of our past executive director, Gayle Atteberry, it has become one of the best pro-life conferences in the nation. (For example, we were one of the first to headline Abby Johnson, shortly before her meteoric rise in the pro-life movement.)

This year, we’ve rebranded our conference to match its caliber and also the new ORTL motto — our conference will be called Together We Advocate 2018. This name also defines the reason we spend so much time and resources on this event every year: we want Oregon’s pro-life community to be better connected to each other and better equipped to advocate for the vulnerable.

Together We Advocate 2018 is the largest pro-life conference in the Pacific Northwest. It will be held on April 7, from 8:30a-5:15p, at the Portland Airport Holiday Inn. Early bird discounts end March 30. Currently, adult tickets are $40 ($50 April 1), students and seniors pay $30 ($35 April 1).

Before deciding on this year’s conference speakers, our executive director Lois Anderson paid close attention to what is a particularly pressing issue for the movement. In light of HB 4135’s passage, one of our 2018 featured speakers is Richard Doerflinger, a leading expert on end-of-life and bioethics topics. Another, Stephanie Gray, is an author who teaches pro-life advocates how to deliver truth in a compassionate, bridge-building way (a must-do in divided Oregon).

If you talk about the conference on social media, please include our permanent hashtag #togetherweadvocate.

Admission includes lunch. Media can receive a press pass (lunch not included) by contacting our communications director here.
