2009 Media Scholarship Winner - Audrey Engel
Audrey Engel, an English Literature major at Corban College in Salem, was the 2009 winner of the Oregon Right to Life Education Foundation's $2500 Media Scholarship/Internship. Audrey plans to use her skills in writing and research, along with her experience as an intern at the state capitol, to educate and advocate for pro-life issues.
2008 Media Scholarship Winner - Sarah Klatt
Last fall, the Oregon Right to Life (ORTL) Education Foundation awarded its very first $2,500 Media Scholarship to Sarah Klatt, a senior cinema and media communications major with a theatre minor at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. To fulfill the internship portion of the scholarship, Klatt completed three media projects – an interview with a single teen mother, a short documentary on a woman who found healing in Christ after her experience with abortion, and an original dramatic story. She was also interviewed on The Woman to Woman Show, a local pro-life cable television program produced and hosted by LouAnn Edwards Klatt learned about the Media Scholarship through a film professor at George Fox. "I was intrigued by the idea of showing pro-life beliefs through film," said Klatt, "and money toward school is always helpful! The pro-life mission is important to me because of my friends growing up. [My] youth group is full of very broken kids. I've been there as several of them had to make the hard decision on what they believe and whether to keep a baby or not. My best friend decided to keep her baby, and now she has a beautiful boy. His life inspires me to share how precious life is." |
