Portland building delayed

Pro-life activists and an organization called Precious Children of Portland celebrated the recent delay in the building of a new Planned Parenthood facility in Northeast Portland. City developers were prepared to close the deal in mid-August, but the developers weren’t ready. As a result, it will take another 60 days before the Portland Development Commission gives the final okay for the new abortion center.

Bill Diss, spokesman for Precious Children of Portland, along with other activists, is hoping to stop or delay the building and is asking opponents to contact Mayor Tom Potter, Mayor Elect and City Commissioner Sam Adams, and Bruce Warner, the Portland Development Commission Director. He explains that, “We do not want the City of Portland to work with Planned Parenthood and sell urban renewal land to build a prenatal killing center.”

Diss and local residents have complained about a serious racial component to the plans. Planned Parenthood wants to move and enlarge their Portland headquarters and abortion center from an area in southeast Portland with a Black population of about 1 percent to an area in northeast Portland with a Black population of about 43 percent. Overall, Portland’s Black population is about 6 percent. The site for the proposed building is Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Beech Street. RU486 protocols ignored

RU486, the dangerous abortion drug, has killed 13 women and injured thousands more, but Planned Parenthood continues to violate FDA guidelines about its usage. After four California women died after taking RU486 given to them by Planned Parenthood, the abortion business changed its policy to conform to the FDA protocol. However, Iowa Right to Life charges that Planned Parenthood continues to violate protocols. Kim Lehman, the head of Iowa Right to Life, explains, “Planned Parenthood gives women a cheaper combination of the pills for an RU486 abortion, against the recommendations of the Food and Drug Administration, which makes these abortions more profitable for the abortion group but more dangerous for women. Planned Parenthood gives women a single RU486 pill, instead of three recommended by the FDA, then ups the dosage of the less expensive prostaglandin, misoprostol.” Planned Parenthood also cuts back on the number of clinic appointments, from three to two, which increases profits by reducing office and staffing expenses.  Abuse goes unreported in abortion referral

According to documents from a California appeals court case, Planned Parenthood referred a sexually abused teenager for an abortion without notifying authorities about the abuse. Despite two visits to Planned Parenthood, along with a surgical abortion at San Francisco General Hospital, no healthcare provider contacted law enforcement personnel. The 13-year-old girl was abused by her stepfather for months prior to and following the abortion until her mother discovered documents pertaining to the abortion. The man received a sentence of 21 years to life imprisonment. Supporters of a parental notification initiative on the November ballot in California point to the tragedy as a reason to support the initiative. Attorney Katie Short, spokeswoman for the Yes on 4 campaign, asks, “Obviously, Californians cannot rely on assurances from abortion providers that they are protecting children. Are there any predators in jail right now because of a report from Planned Parenthood?”[www.lifenews.com/state3469.html; www.YESon4.net]

Teen sex website introduced

Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette (the Oregon/Washington affiliate) has created a new promotional Web site that targets youth. The site, www.takecaredownthere.org, features short “public service” vignettes that promote immodesty, casual sex, homosexuality and even group sex.

During the 2006-2007 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood received a total of $336.7 million from federal grants and contracts – that’s your tax dollars! Commenting on the objectionable website, attorney Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, stated, “Planned Parenthood has given the federal government yet another reason to stop funding this racist, eugenic, and immoral organization. Why should hardworking Americans pay to support Planned Parenthood’s profiteering sex agenda, that encourages teenage sex on the one hand and then profits by aborting the consequences of such promiscuity on the other hand? Planned Parenthood’s website is offensive and, frankly, shocks the conscience. It is insane that we allow our tax dollars to fund such an irresponsible and destructive organization. We must stop funding Planned Parenthood, and we must stop them now!”
